Altoona Action. Here is an original 35mm color slide by an unidentified photographer that was taken at the Passenger Station in Altoona, Pennsylvania, in October of 1967. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #4268 and two more units whose road numbers are not recorded. All were built by GM-EMD. #4268 is an EP-22 constructed as number "5768" in April of 1952, rated at 2,250 horsepower, and renumbered "4268" in preparation for the PRR-NYC merger. In this context, this A-B-A set is parked near the 12th Street Footbridge. Its crew awaits the "Proceed" signal to resume pulling this passenger train to Harrisburg and points East. |
