For quite a while it seemed the Clearwater Sub was to be the domain of the ex-Reading Company GP39-2s. That was all we saw for almost a year. Here CSX 4306 (ex-Reading Company 3401) spends a lazy Summer afternoon at the Clearwater Crew Office. When I was younger, this site was a junction between the SCL's former Atlantic Coast Line Trilby-St. Pete main, and former SAL's Richmond, VA to St. Petersburg main. From here South, CSX uses the old ACL, and from here North, the old SAL. Nothing remains of the old crossing and connecting spurs. The lines themselves in the opposite directions are now paved over as the Pinellas Trail. |
