Here is a ten-page article by Mr. Frank P. Donovan, Jr., entitled "A Branch Line Odyssey." It was published originally in the May 1947 issue of "Trains" magazine, pages 14-23. "Close to the most populous section of the East lies Delmarva Peninsula, domain of friendly local trains and unhurried living." (Page 14)

Photo Caption: "Baltimore & Eastern is the only railroad other than the Pennsylvania on the Delmarva Peninsula, and even it is controlled by the PRR. Part of the B&E is the old Baltimore, Chesapeake, & Atlantic, shown at Ocean City in 1895." The pedigree of the locomotive pictured here is not recorded.

Photo Caption: "When the Maryland, Delaware, & Virginia Railroad went on the auction block in 1924, part of it went to the Baltimore & Eastern and part went to a company later called the Maryland & Delaware Seacoast Railroad, since abandoned. No. 5 is shown at Denton, Md., in 1926." The pedigree of the locomotive pictured here is not recorded.

Here is page six of a ten-page article by Frank P. Donovan, Jr., entitled "A Branch Line Odyssey." It was published originally in the May 1947 issue of "Trains" magazine, page 19. Photo Caption: "Much more modern is Pennsylvania's K-4 Pacific No. 2034, which hauls the crack 'Del-Mar-Va Express' from New York City through Delmar, Del. (where it is shown), to the Norfolk Ferry at Cape Charles, Va." Pennsylvania Railroad engine #2034 is a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" built in Juniata during June of 1917 and retired in April of 1950 after 33 years of faithful service.

Description:
Here is page seven of a ten-page article by Frank P. Donovan, Jr., entitled "A Branch Line Odyssey." It was published originally in the May 1947 issue of "Trains" magazine, page 20. Photo Caption: "Eight-Wheeler No. 5079 is of Class D-16, used on the Love Point-Easton line of the B&E." Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5079 is a D-16SB (4-4-0) "American" built in the Altoona Machine Shops as D-16D number "79" for the Philadelphia, Wilmington, & Baltimore Railroad in March of 1900, renumbered "5079" in 1903, rebuilt as a D-16B in January of 1913, rebuilt as a D-16SB in August of 1916, and retired in 1940 after 40 years of service.
