SP 2702 and 2703 |
Description: |
Southern Pacific 2702 and 2703 were the first MP15AC units ever built, placed in service on 27 August 1975. Here they were three months later, interchanging cars with the Illinois Central Gulf at the Espee's EAST BRIDGE YARD, next to the east end of the HUEY P. LONG BRIDGE. The headlight in the distance was a Southern Railway geep making a delivery to the Missouri Pacific in the New Orleans Public Belt's EAST BRIDGE YARD, just off to the right. |

Not UP, not yet anyway |
Description: |
SP still was a going operation in 1984, and there was no hint that they would eventually be swallowed by the UP. The stillborn merger attempt with Santa Fe was still ahead at this stage. Funny how things turn out. |
