Description: |
Winter. Here is an original photo that I took of a Pennsylvania Railroad train in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 03 January 1965. Shown here (L to R) are PRR engines #2227 and #7149. Both were built by EMD. #2227 is an EF-22 built in 1963 and rated at 2,250 horsepower. #7149 is an EFS-17M built in 1957 and rated at 1,750 horsepower. They are passing under the 7th Street Bridge with a 57-car westbound mixed-cargo freight train and N-5C caboose #477970. Bringing-up the rear are two ALCo "pushers," #8607 and #8609. |

PRR 2227, EF-22, 1965 |
Description: |
Bellwood. Here is an original photo that I took of two Pennsylvania Railroad eastbound freight trains at Pinecroft ~ just west of Bellwood, Pennsylvania ~ on 26 June 1965. The train in the foreground is a 160-car eastbound mixed-cargo freight with caboose #477243. The train in the background is an eastbound merchandiser headed by PRR engine #2227, an EF-22 built by EMD in 1963 and rated at 2,250 horsepower. The space between the trains and the telephone poles was once occupied by the Altoona & Logan Valley Electric's double-tracked line linking Altoona and Tyrone. Photo taken at the Riggle's Gap Bridge. |
