Covered in a light layer of Minnesota snow is Milwaukee Road 2-8-2 Mikado #401 as it sat in a storage line at the Minneapolis yard. Built by Baldwin in May of 1922 as MILW #8302, it was later renumbered in June of 1938 to MILW 402. Eventually, the scrapper's torch did its job in December of 1954 afterthe loco gave 32 years of service. Specs - L2b class, 63" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 26x30" cylinders, engine wt of 292,770 lb, tractive effort of 54,723 lb. No photographer was listed for the photo. |
