ATSF GP9u #2283 |
Description: |
Built by EMD in April of 1957 as ATSF GP9 #750 but was rebuilt to GP9u level and renumbered 2283. Eventually the loco would be sold to NPR sometime before 2006. No location or photographer was given but based on other photos taken of the loco around this time, it may have been in California for this pose. |

"First Watson Roadswitcher" |
Description: |
Two rebuilt GP9us and a B23-7 drill in El Segundo. This short section of track here is actually the only remaining piece of the Redondo Branch west of the Harbor Sub. At one time, a train on this track could continue through Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach and Redondo Beach (on what is today a really skinny park). Even this shot cannot be taken anymore, as the mall/movie theatre to the right planted those trees, which today are taller then any train. |
