Right moment
Title:  Right moment
Description:  Were headed to Georgia in a few days for a wedding, so it was time to prep the RV for the trip. One of the things to be done is sanitize the water system, which involves a bleach mixture that is run through the system, then flushed. I take the RV out for a 30 minute or so ride around town to get the bleach in all the nooks and crannies. While I was out, this northbound H train showed up with 114 cars. I caught him at Davidson Rd under some towering clouds.

Lucky catch
Title:  Lucky catch
Description:  We were headed to lunch at the Wooden Spoon in Gentry, and saw this train stretched through the south siding switch there. A quick run up to the head end yielded this shot of an empty grain move with seven units and 100 covered hoppers. More and more, northbound grain and coal trains are being used to ferry excess power back north, resulting in these monster power consists, where in the past, after enough diesels were accumulated at Heavener and Shreveport, a lite power move would run. This undoubtedly makes for fewer crew starts, but doesn't make for good photos most of the time-all power, very little, if any, train. One of the units, CP 9781, the last of the set, went south the previous day on a grain train.

Do You Believe In Ghosts?
Title:  Do You Believe In Ghosts?
Description:  KCSM AC4400CW 4552, built as TFM AC4400CW 2652 in August 2000, leads eastbound BNSF coal train C-EBMMLM with BNSF SD70ACe-P4 8504 trailing second-out down the BNSF Saint Joseph Subdivision on a surprisingly-warm February afternoon. After catching it passing over the 1920-built Platte River Bridge from the CB&Q days near Farley, we decided to beat it to the trackside lake located at Horizons Industrial Park in Riverside. As a true testimate of time, KCSM 4552 still retains its original Transportación Ferroviaria Mexicana Battleship Grey paint from before the company was rebranded to Kansas City Southern de México in 2005. After Kansas City Southerns full takeover of the TFM, the equipment on TFMs roster was promptly rebranded to the new KCSM look, either receiving patches in their current "Grey Ghost" look or eventually given new Southern Belle paint. As of early 2025, KCSM 4552 remains as 1 of only 32 AC4400CWs still wearing their original TFM paint on the now CPKC roster. BNSF 8504 is also only 1 of 20 SD70ACe-P4s built for BNSF in 2014.
