Lake Erie and Western Junction and (Now) Norfolk Southern Main St. Crossing
Title:  Lake Erie and Western Junction and (Now) Norfolk Southern Main St. Crossing
Description:  An old photo of the Tipton Railroad Junction in 1915, where 2 New York Central steam locomotives can be seen, as well as a boardwalk, the IMC division passing through the East-West mainline, and several buildings along Main street. The photo on the bottom was taken June 3, 2010. The only similarities between the photos that can seen are one main track (the sidetrack was removed from this division a long time ago, and the tracks of the IMC division no longer pass through this crossing) and the roof of the station (now operated by the local NS MOW and inspection crew). The only track which still remains here is the mainline, even though 5 tracks originally crossed here. 2 of these tracks were the east-west LE&W Division, 2 being the northwest-southeast LE&W Division (IMC) and the last being the north-south Indiana Railroad interurban track. 1915 photo is courtesy of the Tipton County Heritage Center. EDIT: The Union Traction line turned west a block south of the depot onto Dearborn St. and turned north again at Berryman Pike before crossing the Frankfort District (possibly called the Sandusky Division at the time).
