WAMX 4196 and WAMX 4197
Title:  WAMX 4196 and WAMX 4197
Description:  On our way to Pine Jct. we stumbled across Gibson Yard in Hammond. While driving we noticed two WAMX painted engines by the Potash Corp of Saskatchewan. Both units are on long term lease for the company and even have the logo painted on the side

WAMX 4197
Title:  WAMX 4197
Description:  Buried in the middle of a quintet on the fuel ramp is the newest addition to the roster, and the freshest red and gray paint other than 4170's 40th Anniversary which I have yet to see.

Quintet on the fuel ramp
Title:  Quintet on the fuel ramp
Description:  Bracketing new kid on the block 4197 are 4182 and 4181, the ex-BN duo that were the last locomotive acquisition by the Gardner-era WSOR, numbered 4012 and 4013 and remaining in their Cascade Green until 2017 or so. Then is 3928, one of two GP39-2s added to the fleet in 2014 in ugly patched UP yellow, it received the 35th Anniversary scheme in June, 2015. A yard crew has just tacked 4192 onto the end. It is one of four ex-C&O SD40M-2s (built as SD40s) acquired by the railroad in 2007-08 as WSOR 4076-79, re# WAMX 4189-4192. 4189/90 have since been sent to service on other Watco properties (at least one of them to the Grand Elk Railroad in Michigan).

WAMX 4197 and mates rest under the glow of the yard lights
Title:  WAMX 4197 and mates rest under the glow of the yard lights
Description:  Something seems "off" about the long hood lettering on this recently painted red and gray unit vs. its predecessors. It's crammed too close at the end, and the ampersand isn't evenly spaced between the words. I'm told this was done at NRE in Silvis as the WSOR Horicon shop apparently is no more. Note it is also lacking the "YOU HAVE THE RIGHT AND THE OBLIGATION TO WORK SAFELY" notices above the steps that were ubiquitous on all previous red and gray repaints. This unit is ex-BN by way of FURX/NREX, and was previously in service at the Watco transloading site in Hammond, IN wearing their standard "yellow jacket" scheme.

An interesting hodgepodge of power in front of the roundhouse
Title:  An interesting hodgepodge of power in front of the roundhouse
Description:  The Helm sisters would seem to be shop queens, since I always see them here of late. Coupled to them is 4192, and also in the shot are 4197 (latest "standard" red and gray repaint) and 4219 (ex-CP, only one with a low headlight).

WAMX 4197
Title:  WAMX 4197
Description:  The newest addition to the red and gray brigade. They are no longer done at Horicon, sadly (note the misaligned long hood text, bunched up too close to the end, and lack of "YOU HAVE THE RIGHT AND THE OBLIGATION TO WORK SAFELY" decals above the steps).

Title:  WAMX 4197 on an eastbound grain train that tied down here last night
Description:  I hoped a crew would get on board and start taking it east during my lunch break, but I didn't really expect to be that lucky, and I wasn't.
