PRR 305, L-1S, 1956
Title:  PRR 305, L-1S, 1956
Description:  SFM. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide via Al Chione that was taken in Summerdale, Pennsylvania, during 1956. The photographer is not identified. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #305 and #1343. Both are L-1S (2-8-2) "Mikados." #305 was built in Juniata during April of 1917 and retired in January of 1960, while #1343 was built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during February of 1916 and retired in April of 1958. They are nose-to-nose, and appear to be pulling a mixed-cargo freight train into the Enola Yards. Beyond them are an outbound freight train (moving from right to left), the Susquehanna River (flowing from left to right), and David's Mountain standing in the distance. Note the Dude in the Doghouse!
