PRR 305, L-1S, #2 of 2, 1955 |
Description: |
Here is an image of the second of two successive photos by Edward Kaspriske that were taken near Summerdale, Pennsylvania, in 1955. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #305 and #4767. #305 is an L-1S (2-8-2) "Mikado" built in Juniata during April of 1917 and retired in January of 1960. #4767 is a P-5A (2-C-2) electric built by General Electric in October of 1932 and retired in December of 1961. In this context, #305 is pulling a mixed-cargo freight train and will soon enter the Enola Yards. Note the "Geep" lurking behind the "Mikado." Edward Kaspriske Collection. |
