Album Info:Here are 16 original photos that I took of Pennsylvania Railroad yard locomotives in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, during the Summer of 1960. The purpose of the Samuel Rea Shop was to build or rebuild railroad cars of various sorts. When those cars were finished, they were marshaled into trains departing from the Hollidaysburg Yards. Trains destined for parts East would turn right at WYE Tower, merge with the main line at ALTO Tower in Altoona, and proceed from there. Trains destined for parts West would pass by WYE Tower, climb up the mountains via the Muleshoe Curve, merge with the main line just before the tunnels at Gallitzin, and proceed from there; there would often be several pushers on the rear.
