Water Tank
Title:  Water Tank
Description:  c1895 Info on the back of the print - Portland & Rumford Falls Bemis Water Tank (Rangelely Plantation, Me) - Built in the 1890s the line was leased to the MEC in 1907. By the look of the stumps along the track the ROW was cleared in the winter. I rather like the wood whistle board. /DL

Station
Title:  Station
Description:  At Mile Post P81/R4 on the Rumford Branch in the later MEC era. If this photograph was taken prior to 1907 this is a stop on the Portland & Rumford Falls after 1907 it would be Maine Central. The MEC leased the line in 1907. Dixfield is just across the river over the toll bridge behind the station. /DL

Approach to the station
Title:  Approach to the station
Description:  C1907. This old card is postmarked Aug 3 1908 and on the flip side Frank was telling William that he’d be home soon with a 1 cent stamp. Too bad the photographer hadn’t been just a bit closer to the station. Typical of MEC track records the ballast was – Bankrun Gravel – as was common all over the MEC. /DL
