NYC 2-8-2 #1736 - New York Central
Title:  NYC 2-8-2 #1736 - New York Central
Description:  Long before an NYC F7A carried the number NYC 1736, this ALCo-Schenectady built 2-8-2 Mikado wore the number. Originally delivered in September of 1918 as Toledo & Ohio Central #9736 (serial # 59552), it was reunumbered in August of 1936 to NYC 1736 and later in June of 1951, it was again renumbered to NYC 6329. The loco was finally retired in November of 1954 and scrapped. Specs - serial # H-6a class, 63" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 26x30" cylinders, engine weight of 300,500 lb, tractive effort of 54,720 lb. The photo is from the Howard W. Ameling collection.

NYC 2-8-2 #1724 - New York Central
Title:  NYC 2-8-2 #1724 - New York Central
Description:  Good example of a Baldwin 2-8-2 Mikado built originally as CCC & StL 6113 (serial #50671) in November of 1918. The loco was renumbered in 1936 to NYC #1724 and again renumbered in 1951 to NYC 6313. The loco served for nearly 35 years before retirement in February of 1953 and then scrapped a month later. Specs - H-6a class, 63" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 26x30" cylinders, engine weight of 300,500 lb, tractive effort of 54,720 lb. The photo is from the Howard. W. Ameling collection.

NYC 2-8-2 #1739 - New York Central
Title:  NYC 2-8-2 #1739 - New York Central
Description:  Built by ALCo-Schenectady in September of 1918, this 2-8-2 Mikado was originally Toledo & Ohio Central #9739 (serial #59555). It was renumbered first in Augsut of 1936 as NYC 1739 and again in May of 1951 as NYC #6331. After nearly 37 years of service, the loco was retired in November of 1955 when diesels took over the roster. It was finally sold for scrap in December of 1955. Specs - serial # H-6a class, 63" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 26x30" cylinders, engine weight of 300,500 lb, tractive effort of 54,720 lb. The photo is from the Howard W. Ameling collection.

Title:  NYC 2-8-2 #1778 - New York Central
Description:  This locomotive started out as Michigan Central #7978 (serial #59648) and was built by ALCo-Schenectady in November of 1918. In 1936, it was renumbered to NYC #1778 as seen here but later renumbered again in July of 1951 to NYC #6347. The loco was retired in September of 1954 and scrapped.
