Built by ALCo-Schenectady in September of 1918, this 2-8-2 Mikado was originally Toledo & Ohio Central #9739 (serial #59555). It was renumbered first in Augsut of 1936 as NYC 1739 and again in May of 1951 as NYC #6331. After nearly 37 years of service, the loco was retired in November of 1955 when diesels took over the roster. It was finally sold for scrap in December of 1955. Specs - serial # H-6a class, 63" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 26x30" cylinders, engine weight of 300,500 lb, tractive effort of 54,720 lb. The photo is from the Howard W. Ameling collection. |
