Volkmer. Here is a postal card entitled "Pennsylvania 5827." No Postmark. Caption On Reverse: "Pennsylvania 5827. Baldwin-built Centipedes at East Altoona, Pennsylvania, October 29, 1959. Originally purchased for passenger service, these unique locomotives were downgraded from 6000hp to 5000hp per semi-permanently coupled pair and placed into freight and helper service. Photo by William D. Volkmer." PRR engine #5827 was built in October of 1948 and retired in September of 1962 after 14 just years of revenue service.
