Shown here (L to R) are PRR engines #6513 and #5842. #6513 is a GF-25A built by General Electric in 1965 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. #5842 is an EP-20 built in 1947 and rated at 2,000 horsepower. Their crews are waiting for orders to proceed with their passenger train up the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve to Gallitzin, whereupon #6513 will uncouple and return to Altoona for yet another helper/pusher run up the Mountains. Visible in the distance are the 12th Street Bridge and two of the original PRR 12th Street Car Shop buildings.

PRR E7 5849
Description:
PRR E7 5849 at about 47th Street in Chicago, Illinois on May 9, 1965, Ektachrome by Chuck Zeiler. The E7 was built August 30, 1947 (c/n 3985) on EMD Order E745, became PRR 4209 and later PC 4209. Based on my fading memory, this is between 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM, so this could be either Train #48, The General, due out of Union Station at 4:15 PM, or it might be Train #28, The Broadway Limited, due out at 5:00 PM.
