Shown here are the Locomotive Ready Tracks below the 17th Street Bridge; several makes and models are represented. Of the six locomotives visible, the following are identifiable by number. Starting from the bottom are PRR engines #8958, #8966, #8669, and #8672. #8958 is a BS-24M built by Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton in 1951 and rated at 2,400 horsepower. #8966 is a BS-16M built by Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1951 and rated at 1,600 horsepower. #8669 and #8672 are AS-18AM's built by the American Locomotive Company in 1958 and rated at 1,800 horsepower each.

Visible in the distance is a portion of the 8th Street Bridge.

Here is an original 35mm color slide by an unidentified photographer that was taken at the Pennsylvania Railroad's Erecting & Machine Shop storage yard in Altoona, Pennsylvania, in June of 1966. Among the numerous locomotives depicted here is PRR engine #8968, a BS-16M road switcher built by Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton in June of 1951 and retired in July of 1966. Beyond it is PRR engine #7104, an EFS-17M built by GM-EMD in November of 1956 and rated at 1,750 horsepower.

Visible on the far right are the venerable water tower and the western end of the PRR's Samuel Rea Shop. Partially visible in the far distance is Bald Hill.
