Burlington Northern Railroad BNA1, MISSISSIPPI RIVER, at North Kansas City, Missouri on October 7, 1994, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Built by Budd on Job 9664-105, ordered in October 1950, delivered in January 1952, named BURLINGTON, and used by then CB&Q president Harry C. Murphy. It became BN BURLINGTON in March 1970, renamed BURLINGTON NORTHERN in 1971, renamed again in 1974 to MISSISSIPPI RIVER and numbered A-4, renumbered to BNA-1. During 1973-1974 it wore Amtrak's red white and blue stiping between the windows. In September 1998 it became BNSF 1. At some point the truck skirts were modified, as delivered, the skirts over the trucks matched the rest of the skirting. |
