4th Street. Here is an original photo that I took of Pennsylvania Railroad trains in Altoona, Pennsylvania, during November of 1960. Shown here (R to L) are PRR engines #9789, #9790-B, and #9873. All are EF-15A's built by EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #9789 and #9790-B were built in 1951, but #9873 was built in 1952. Parked on the next track over is PRR engine #7923, an ES-12 built by EMD in 1957 and rated at 1,200 horsepower. Visible on the right are the largely-unused livestock pens, right next to SOUTH Tower (not shown). Photo taken from the 4th Street Bridge. ("Red Shift" slide converted to Black & White.) |
