PRR Locomotive Ready Tracjs, 1954
ARB. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by Homer G. Benton that was taken in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 22 May 1954. Prominent here are several sets of locomotives ~ both oil-powered and coal-fired ~ waiting for westbound helper/pusher duty. From left to right, there are three A-B-A sets of GM-EMD EH-15's, a pair of Baldwin-built "Centipedes," three "Decapods," and another pair of "Centipedes." Photo taken from the 8th Street Bridge in Juniata, looking East toward the 17th Street Bridge and the East Altoona Roundhouse.
