Standing outside the Cologne, MN, depot on a snowy February day is 2-8-2 Mikado #624. Built by Alco-Brooks in July of 1912 originally as CM&StP #1867 (serial #51446), it was renumbered in 1938 to CMStP&P #624. The loco served for nearly 37 years before being sold in December of 1949. Specs - 63" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 26x30" cylinders, engine weight of 277,800 lb, tractive effort of 54,723 lb. An unknown photographer took this photo. |
