BO 2-10-2 #6170 - Baltimore & OHio         
This powerful 2-10-2 Santa Fe type steam locomotive was built by Lima Locomotive Works in March of 1924 as BO # 6170 (serial #6720). It proved to be an excellent choice for handling long drags of cars in mountainous regions that the B&O serviced. It lasted for nearly 29 years before being sold for scrap in 1953 - one of the earliest 2-10-2's to be scrapped. Specs - S-1 class, 64" drivers, 220 psi boiler pressure, 30x32" cylinders, engine weight of 434,500 lb, tractive effort of 84,300 lb. No date, location or photographer was listed for the photo.
