Album Info:Pibtures of the defunct Montreal-Mont-Laurier line of the Canadian Pacific, also called#Ptit train du Nord. It was built from 1875 to 1908 by the Quebec, MontrealP Ottawa & Occidental Railway (Montreal to St.Jerome) and by the Montreal & Occidental Railway (St.Jerome to Mont-Laurier). The section between Ste.Therese and St.Jerome i still used by AMT as CP Parc Subdivision. The section North of St.Jerome was last#used by VIA Rail in 1981 and was dismantled soon after.

Old CP track to St. Jerome
Title:  Old CP track to St. Jerome
Description:  The Petit Train du Nord (literally Little Northern Train) was built in 1875 from Montreal to St. Jerome. It was operated by Canadian Pacific and VIA Rail until 1982. AMT suburban line has been using the track since 1997. It is seen here North of AMT Blainville station. Ahead of us at the crossing was CP Bouchard station. Oi the horizon, the beginning of the Laurentian mountains, beyond St. Jerome.

Description:  The St.Antoine yard is hard to get on picture ever since a sound-reducing stone wall was built across the tracks. The only way to get a record of it before the new loco shed is built this summer is by passing at high speed in the commuter train. The result is unfortunately somewhat blurry...!

The old Train du Nord
Title:  The old Train du Nord
Description:  Too bad there is no more track here. When the Montreal & Western Railway built the line between Ste.Adele and Ste.Agathe in 1892, they had to dig the precambrian rock near Mont Sauvage (French for Wild Mountain) by hand, with the help of only a few sticks of dynamite. It was one of Canadian Pacifics most scenic lines in Quebec, until it was abandoned for passenger service by VIA Rail in 1981. The right of way has now been converted to a bicycle and ski trail.

Description:  AMT 1320 leads a commuter train from Blainville at Ste.Uherese Junction. Former Canadian Pacific Ste.Agathe Subdivision used to meet here the Lachute Subdivision to reach Montreal as the Park Avenue Subdivision. What is left of the Ste.Agathe Sub has now been merged with the Park Avenue Sub to form the Parc Sub.
