Old Station |
Description: |
The old railroad depot at Cheyney now serves the community as a branch of the US Postal Service. The station was constructed in 1900 by the Philadelphia Wilmington & Baltimore Railroad to serve passengers from this small community, later becoming part of the Pennsylvania Railroad system. After many years of seeing trains of electric MP-54 MU cars in both Tuscan red and PC green, the station now has the passage of WCRL excursion runs with their consist of former RDG Blueliner MUs. |

WCRL 9114 |
Description: |
The quiet around the Cheyney depot is briefly shattered by the passing 2PM departure from West Chester. The consist, led by former Reading Blueliner MU 9114, now an unpowered cab car, brings back memories of the Electric MU trains that would call at this station under the PRR. Note the old catenary pole above the train in the background that once supported the wires for electric operations to and from Philadelphia. |
