The Milwaukee Road 2-8-0 class C5 came from two sources - Milwaukee shops built 15 (7200-7204, 7240-7249) in 1912-1913 while ALCo-Brooks delivered 35 (7205-7239) in 1912.

Description:
Here MILW 2-8-0 #1248 poses in a Minneapolis yard after just being renumbered. Built by the Milwaukee Shops in 1913 as CMStP #7248, it was renumbered first in 1927 to CMStP&P #7248 and later in 1938 to MILW 1248. The entire C5 class of 2-8-0 Consolidations were retired between 1945-54. Specs - 63" drivers, 185 psi boiler pressure, 24x30" cylinders, engine wt of 224,000lb, tractive effort of 43,130 lb. Unfortunately, no photograher was listed for the photo.

MILW 2-8-0 #1244 - Milwaukee Road
Description:
It appears as if the fireman is waiting for a signal to pull MILW 2-8-0 Consolidation #1244 from the storage line. This is one of the 15 class C5 2-8-0 Consolidations that the Milwaukee Road Shops built in 1913. Originally it carried the number CMStP #7244 but renumbered twice after - in 1927 to CMStP&P #7244 and in 1938 to MILW 1244. The entire class C5 locos were retired between 1945-54. . Specs - 63" drivers, 185 psi boiler pressure, 24x30" cylinders, engine wt of 224,000lb, tractive effort of 43,130 lb. Unfortunately, no photograher was listed for the photo.

MILW 2-8-0 #1223 - Milwaukee Road
Description:
Built by ALCo-Brooks in December of 1912 as CMStP #7223, this loco served for nearly 42 years. In 1927, it was renumbered CMStP&P #7223 and again in 1938 to MILW 1223. The loco met the scrapper's torch after retirement in June of 1954. Specs - 63" drivers, 185 psi boiler pressure, 24x30" cylinders, engine wt of 224,000lb, tractive effort of 43,130 lb. Unfortunately, no date, location or photograher was listed for the photo so approximate location and date were used.

Description:
This is an example of the ALCo-Brooks 2-8-0 Consolidation built in December of 1912 as CMStP #7218. It was renumbered first to CMStP&P 7218 in 1927 and then later to MILW 1218 in September of 1938. After serving nearly 41 years, the loco seen here awaits the scrapper's torch in March of 1953. Specs - 63" drivers, 185 psi boiler pressure, 24x30" cylinders, engine wt of 224,000lb, tractive effort of 43,130 lb. Unfortunately, no photograher was listed for the photo.

Sitting forlornly in the scrap line is MILW 2-8-0 Consolidation built by ALCo-Brooks in December of 1912. Originally it carried the number first as CMStP #7226, then CMStP&P 7226 and finally in 1938 renumbered to MILW 1226. The loco met with the scrapper's torch after retirement in February of 1954. As seen here, it is over a year later after retirement and already missing pieces. Specs - 63" drivers, 185 psi boiler pressure, 24x30" cylinders, engine wt of 224,000lb, tractive effort of 43,130 lb. No photographer was listed for the photo.

Caught sitting in the "dead/scrap line" at the Bensenville Yard is MILW 2-8-0 Consolidation #1233. Originally built by ALCo-Brooks in December of 1912 as CMStP #7233, it was renumbered twice - in 1927 to CMStP&P 7233 & in 1938 to MILW 1233. The loco served for nearly 42 tears before being retired in November of 1954. Some 5 months later it still sits awaiting the scrapper's torch to arrive. Specs - 63" drivers, 185 psi boiler pressure, 24x30" cylinders, engine wt of 224,000lb, tractive effort of 43,130 lb. Unfortunately, no photograher was listed for the photo.
