It was published originally on the "National Railway Bulletin," Volume 53, Number 2, 1988. Photo by Bud Rothaar. Photo Caption: "These homely, rough-riding 'hippos' were a sturdy breed. In fact, I1sa Decapods had the distinction of being the last locomotives in steam when Pennsy finally achieved 100-percent diesel and electric operation. In November 1957, Big Steam's last stand in PRR road-haul service was on the iron ore trains headed for the furnaces of Bethlehem Steel at Bethlehem, Pa. Here, Baldwin-built I1sa 4407 doubleheads with a sister 2-10-0 upgrade near Shamokin, Pa., in the mid-1950's. Most likely, two more of their clan are shoving on the rear."
