PRR 9777, EF-15A, 1965
Title:  PRR 9777, EF-15A, 1965
Description:  Everyday. Here is an original photo that I took of Pennsylvania Railroad trains in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, on 7 April 1965. Shown here (R to L) are PRR engines #9777 and three others whose numbers are not visible. #9777 is an EF-15A built by EMD in 1951 and rated at 1,500 horsepower. Its crew is climbing aboard, and will soon head out of the Hollidaysburg Yards with a 38-car freight train and caboose #477806. They will pass WYE Tower, climb the Allegheny Mountains by way of the New Portage Branch and the Muleshoe Curve, and then merge with the mainline at Gallitzin. Most of the cars in this train are new 70-ton hopper cars, just produced at the Samuel Rea Shop in Hollidaysburg. The PRR Shop Car in the foreground is used to transport newly-finished wheels-and-axles from the Altoona Shops to the Samuel Rea Shop. The Trailer Train autocarrier on the left is on its way for repairs at the Berwind-White Car Shops.
